Lately you probably have heard about personal blenders. But what is it?
Does a personal blender have your name on it? Not necessarily, but it could.
A personal blender is a smaller blender than a countertop blender. It usually comes with a jar that can contain about 1 to 2 cups.
The engine is smaller than other blenders. It can vary from 200 to 300 watts. In general, the personal blenders come with plastic jars as opposed to the glass ones.
They call it personal since with most of these blenders you can prepare your drink and drink it from the jar itself. In many occasions you can take the jar with you as an on the go cup. Think as having your own travel coffee mug, but for smoothies and shakes.
The Advantages of this Type of Blender Are:
Convenience .
It takes little room in your kitchen,
In general they are portable. If you are travelling you do not have to give up your smoothies. Take the blender with you and enjoy preparing your daily drink fro the comfort of your hotel room.
Oh well, even if you go camping you can take one of these. If the camping site does not have power, then there are mixers powered by batteries.
Some blenders come with more than one jar or cup. This way two people can use the blender and each will have their own cup.
Could You Do Everything You Do with a Countertop Blender?
It depends. You can prepare smoothies, blend some soup, and some even will chop vegetables, grind coffee and beans. You could also prepare baby food with it.
Although some of them can be quite powerful, you cannot compare them with a high power blender.
Would I Recommend Buying One of these?
It all depends on what you want out of a blender. I would definitely recommend it if:
If you travel often.
If your kitchen is compact.
If you do not own a blender and do not want to spend lots of money
If you already own a countertop blender, and do not travel often, then you probably would not need this personal blender.
Though a personal blender is quick and easy to use, specially for small batches. On occasions, I feel lazy about using the high powered blender to process small portions of food, since the washing could be a pain.
Handling and Cleaning of a personal blender tend to be easier, since the unit is smaller.
If you are thinking of getting a personal blender I suggest that you first decide what you want it for. It is important to decide what is your goal for it. Based on your goal, choose the blender that would suit you best.
Take the time to research all options and confirm that they will be able to do what you expect from them. Ensure that the one you get has the power to do everything you want it to do.
If you do get one, come back here and tell us how it has helped you in your cooking?

An immersion blender is what I would call a portable blender, but quite different to the personal blenders. The immersion blender is a stick with a blade at the end. As opposed to other blenders, you can immerse this blender in the pot or container to blend the food. So the immersion blender does not…
New words get added to the dictionary every time a new product gets created. That is the beauty of the English Language. A popular term for blenders and food processors is “pulse” or “to pulse”. Why is so important, because many blenders come with a pulse key and you may not know if you need…
I do have some non-stainless steel pans. I love stainless steelĀ because they are easy to clean and they last forever. They are also safe to use, unlike the aluminium ones. These baking pans would be ideal when I have to bake a large cake for birthday partiesĀ or to bake meals. I could use them to…
